Care Australia Pty. Ltd and has been fully
accredited by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards
(ACHS), since 1986. It is situated
centrally within Cairns and is within walking distance to the
retail and central business area.
The facility provides a full
range of acute services for Tropical Far North Queensland and
has
a long history of providing for the community. With a licence
to operate 141 beds its clinical
focus is Cardiology, General Medicine and Surgery, Day Oncology,
Day Surgery, Rehabilitation
Services, Obstetrics, Renal Dialysis and Sleep Disorder.
We offer a Graduate Nurse
Program at Cairns Private Hospital every year which consists
of a
structured yet flexible. This program offers graduates an
opportunity to apply and develop
their clinical skills.
Under the guidance and support
of Nurse Unit Managers, Educators and Registered Nurses
the graduate can experience a diverse range of medical,
surgical and specialty placements.

Post Diploma Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Program
Programs run concurrently with the Post Diploma Nurse Program.

- Choose placements in areas of professional interest.
Cairns Private Hospital has incorporated the success factors
of our Post Diploma Registered Nurse Program into
the Post Diploma Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Program.
Cairns values the contribution the Endorsed Enrolled Nurse
role has to the success of the health care team.
Therefore we are committed to offering a Post
Diploma
Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Program that offers opportunity to practice
newly acquired skills in a supportive environment.
Our Post Diploma Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Program is
six months in length and commences offers flexibility
in employment
hours and rostering.
The Post Diploma Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Program
is able to build on your vocational training
through a structured program that incorporates preceptorship,
study
days, competencies and skills in acute patient care and assessment.
Continued opportunities for ongoing professional development
can be attained after the Post Diploma program through role
extension competencies
and
skill development in a variety of specialty areas.
Program Structure
Full Time or Part Time employment (minimum hours required)
The program includes placement in an acute medical or surgical
clinical area.
Participants can choose placements in medical and surgical
areas of interest depending on vacancies.
Workshops are incorporated into the program and these encourage
the Post Diploma to develop skills in areas related to
their clinical practice. These workshops
are varied and can include Wound Management, Acute Pain
Management, Managing
a Diabetic patient, Mock Codes, Aggression Minimisation
Workshop and other Professional Development Days.
Participants can learn advanced skills and competencies.
Both programs commence at the end of January each year.

Recruitment for Post Diploma Registered Nurses and
Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Programs
Interviews can be conducted in two formats
depending on period of recruitment. These
formats are as
follows:
- The graduate is interviewed individually
with two interviewers and asked questions
that relate
to
their previous experience.
- Phone interviews can be organised for
graduates that do not live in the
Cairns region.
