Greenslopes Private Hospital and University of Queensland
Bachelor of Nursing Program.
Greenslopes Private Hospital established a unique partnership
with the University of Queensland in 2004. The partnership
allows students
from first year, second year and third year to undertake their
undergraduate studies and clinical practicum placements within
the hospital environment.
Students become an integral part of the nursing team and undertake
their placements in the same clinical area for their current
year of study. They are rotated to a different clinical area
the following year, which facilitates their continued learning
and skill development.
Students undertake the theory component of their bachelor degree
using a problem based learning model facilitated by Clinical
Lecturers within the hospital environment. All learning is conducted
onsite in specialised classrooms and clinical skill laboratories.
They are then well skilled for the acute clinical environment
in which they will practice in as Graduate Registered Nurses.
In 2006 Greenslopes Private Hospital will further strengthen
the partnership by offering second year students the opportunity
to apply for scholarships.
Greenslopes Private Hospital and Shafston Institute of Technology
Diploma of Nursing Program.
The affiliation between Greenslopes Private Hospital as a private
health care provider and Shafston Institute of Technology as
a private education provider was forged in 2004. The relationship
provided the basis for the Greenslopes Private Hospital and
Shafston Institute of Technology scholarship program.
Students undertaking their Diploma of Nursing studies through
Shafston Institute of Technology are able to apply for scholarships
through Greenslopes Private Hospital. The scholarship allows
the students financial and academic support through their diploma
studies.
Our relationship with Shafston Institute of Technology provides
the scholarship students with a holistic approach to nursing
education. Students study at Shafston and undertake placements
at Greenslopes Private Hospital. This allows the student access
to all clinical specialities required for practicum hours and
Queensland Nursing Council registration.
A seamless transition is facilitated from student to graduate
as scholarship students commence employment on the Graduate Endorsed
Enrolled Nurse Program in an environment they have become familiar
with.
