Albury Wodonga Private Hospital and La Trobe University Clinical
School
The establishment of a Clinical School at the
Albury Wodonga Private Hospital has paved the way for exciting
new nursing opportunities in the border region.
In partnership with La Trobe University’s
Albury Wodonga campus, the hospital is pleased to be able to
offer general medical/surgical and specialty clinical experience
at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The aim of
the school is to create firm educational ties between the two
organisations and to establish unique nursing programs in which
the clinical and theoretical components are closely integrated.
Based on a preceptorship model, the School offers
a comprehensive range of programs for nurses at all stages of
their career development. Exclusive clinical placements at the
hospital are available to Bachelor of Nursing students in either
three year or four year double degree streams. Postgraduate qualifications
are currently available in Perioperative Nursing and will soon
be available in the areas of Mental Health and Acute Care nursing.
Together, AWPH and La Trobe University also plan
to explore opportunities for nursing research and staff development
throughout the hospital.
