Professional Development: Return to Practice
Course Outline
The course is undertaken for a maximum of 12 weeks full time and includes a minimum of 80 theoretical hours.
Theoretical Component
The primary theoretical component will be conducted as a block in the first 2 weeks of the program.
Topics covered include
- Australian Health Care Systems
- The Nursing Profession
- Cultural, legal and ethical issues
- Clinical Nursing/Midwifery/Mental Health skills
- Mental Health specific units
- Midwifery specific units
The academic program provides a broad overview of nursing practice in the contemporary Australian society and health care system and will be undertaken by a combination of delivery modes such as;
- Lectures / Tutorials
- Self directed learning packages
- Workbook activities
- On-line learning
- Nursing Laboratory Skills
Clinical Component
All participants will undertake a maximum of 10 weeks of fully supervised clinical experience in a Ramsay Health Care facility.
Each participant is required to demonstrate competencies that meet Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council National Competency standards. All participants must satisfactorily complete clinical skills assessments and clinical competencies before they will be considered for registration.
The clinical learning program aims to provide an opportunity for the student to consolidate their experience in the Australian clinical environment under the supervision and guidance of expert clinicians and clinical facilitators and are supernumerary during their clinical placements.
