Return to Practice
What is RTP
Nurses who have been previously registered in Victoria and have a lapsed registration are required by the Nurses Board of Victoria to complete a Return to Practice (RTP) Program in order to gain re-registration.
Ramsay Health Care provide a return to practice (RTP) program which is designed to meet the needs of both Division 1 and Division 2 nurses whose initial registration was in Victoria and who wish to re-enter the work force after a lapse in practice.
Course Structure
The course is undertaken for a maximum of 12 weeks full time, with the possibility of early exit at 6 weeks if all requirements are met and includes a minimum of 80 theoretical hours.
The primary theoretical component will be conducted as a block in the first 2 weeks of the program.
The clinical component of the program will be completed at Ramsay hospitals in Victoria.

Admission Process and Selection Criteria
Applicants seeking nursing registration in Victoria must apply to the Nurses Board of Victoria before enrolling in this course.
Participants will apply to complete the clinical component of the program at Ramsay Health Care hospitals in Victoria.
All applications must be lodged online and include a covering letter, current Curriculum Vitae and copy of the letter of approval from the Nurses Board of Victoria. All applications will be reviewed and assessed in relation to the candidates experience, specialty and current recruitment needs within Ramsay Health Care. Interview
Interviews will be conducted by phone or face to face by the individual hospital at which the successful applicant will complete the clinical component of the program. The interview will consist of knowledge, skill and attitude type questions.
Reference Checks
Those applicants who are successful at interview will require two reference checks to be completed.
Admission to Course
Final choice of successful applicants will be at the discretion of the hospital conducting the interview and reference checks. Candidates who are successful in gaining entry to the program will be eligible to apply for ongoing employment at that hospital after successful completion of the program.
